Bryan Cranston 'To Play Lex Luthor In Sequel'

Bryan Cranston 'To Play Lex Luthor In Sequel', Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will reportedly play supervillain Lex Luthor in the sequel to Man of Steel.

The 57-year-old, who plays Walter White in the US drama series, is expected to be confirmed in the role when the sixth series of the show ends next month.

According to Cosmic Book News, the actor will play Superman's nemesis in at least six films in the DC Comics franchise.

It comes after Warner Bros Pictures confirmed Ben Affleck will play Batman in the 2015 movie - a decision criticised by tens of thousands of fans who have signed an online petition demanding the role be recast.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the upcoming film will pitch Batman and Superman against each other in a superhero face-off.

Henry Cavill will return as Superman after his debut in Man of Steel earlier this year, while Amy Adams and Diane Lane will return as Lois Lane and Martha Kent respectively.

Luthor would be Cranston's biggest movie role to date, following parts in Argo, Little Miss Sunshine and Saving Private Ryan.

He previously voiced Jim Gordon in a Batman animation and featured in more than 150 episodes of teen comedy Malcolm in the Middle.
