Taunton plane crash victims identified, In Taunton, a small plane crash has killed two people.

The crash occurred at the Taunton Municipal Airport Sunday morning.

The victims have tentatively been identified as 69-year-old John Schmouth, of Brockton, and 61-year-old Roland Deslauriers, of Bridgewater.

National Transportation Safety Board investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the plane to crash.

The plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Taunton Municipal Airport at around 6:30 Sunday morning.

The plane was a two-seat Aeronca 7-C Champion.

Mayor Thomas Hoye told our Providence affiliate, WPRI that it appeared the plane suffered some kind of malfunction and crashed into a gully.  The identities of those people killed are not yet available.

Other aircraft have since departed from the airport as federal investigators look into the crash.

The Taunton Airport reported fog between 3/4 of a mile and 1 3/4 mile between 6 and 7 a.m. Sunday.
