Jacksonville group to hold Tebow rally

Jacksonville group to hold Tebow rally, The Jacksonville Jaguars moved one step closer to an 0-16 season Sunday against the Oakland Raiders — arguably the other worst team in the NFL — proving that Chad Henne can be just as inept as Blaine Gabbert when it comes to winning football games at quarterback.

The road doesn’t get any easier from here, either, as the Jags travel to Seattle next week to face the Seahawks, with games against Denver, San Diego and San Francisco on the horizon. And with each subsequent loss, the calls for someone — anyone — else to take over under center will grow louder.

Not surprisingly, many of the calls thus far have been in support of unemployed Jacksonville native and former Broncos, Jets and Patriots quarterback Tim Tebow, and now one fan group is staging a rally in support of the sign-Tebow initiative.

The website "Jags-Tebow Why Not?" looks like something you might have designed on a bulky desktop in a sixth-grade computer class, but its message is clear (in part because it is in all caps): "WE THE FANS, WANT THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS TO BRING IN TIM TEBOW. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN."

On Monday, the group plans to hold a rally in the EverBank Field parking lot in support of its mission. The event will start at 3:16 p.m. ET and, naturally, will last 3 hours and 16 minutes.

The site argues that "when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose," and asks, "What's the worst that could happen if they signed Tebow? That fans might actually want to buy a ticket or click on the TV and watch them?"

I’m not sure if Tebow is the cure for what ails the Jaguars, but Jags-Tebow Why Not? does make a fair point: If nothing else, his presence in the Jaguars backfield would at least get TV stations to stop apologizing for putting them on TV.
