Flight attendants really, really don't want you to order this drink on a plane.
Flight attendants really, really don't want you to order this drink on a plane., We all know flight attendants have a rough gig, what with the annoying passengers they have to deal with on a daily basis and all. But what you might not know is that the drink you order could be making their job that extra bit harder.
A flight attendant has shared that when she rolls up with the drink cart, there’s one drink she’s mentally begging you not to order. It’s a Diet Coke.
Why? Well as the experienced cabin crew member shares on her blog These Gold Wings, soft drink, but in particular Diet Coke, fizzes up at twice the usual rate due to the air pressure. To avoid a spill while pouring a cup for passengers, attendants have to wait for those bubbles to die down.
“Pouring diet coke is one of the biggest slow downs in the bar service and on the shorter flights those precious seconds count!” the attendant, posting as Jet, writes.
“I literally have to sit and wait for the bubbles to fall before I can continue pouring.
“If all three passengers (in a row) ask for Diet Coke I’ll often get them started, take another three drink orders, serve those, and then finish the Diet Cokes.”
So now you know how annoying the drink order can be, you can do your flight attendant – and your thirsty fellow passengers – a favour and offer to pour the drink yourself.
That’s not the only habit we’ve been guilty of that unknowingly annoys flight attendants.
Relying on the cabin crew for your rubbish disposal, talking during the safety demonstration and using hot towels inappropriately are just a few of the grievances flight attendants have shared.
It’s also quite annoying if you leave rubbish behind in the backseat pocket, apparently – so when you’re done with your Diet Coke, at least dispose of it thoughtfully.
