What are some useful skills I can learn in minutes?

What are some useful skills I can learn in minutes?, I have a small exercise to increase your hand writing speed that I am told works when I demonstrated it in person. I’ll try narrating it, let’s see if this makes sense! But why is it even important to have a fast hand writing speed? To hand write examination answer papers within a prescribed time! :D

The whole exercise is to continuously try to (roughly) draw/scribble an equilateral triangle with the following rules:

1. they should not intersect
2. you should be seated in a writing stance (desk, chair, legs, etc.). Additionally, while drawing, your wrist, elbow and shoulder are not to move. Try to be as rigid as possible, allowing only your fingers to move to scribble the three lines of the ‘triangle’
3. pick any of the two directions (clockwise or counter-clockwise), but all three lines of the ‘triangle’ should follow the direction; it’s easy to mistakenly draw one line in the opposite direction
4. begin slowly at first following the above rules, and you should notice a slight strain somewhere in your arm. That strain is the goal. You can speed up as long as you can feel yourself increasing your threshold. If you cannot feel the strain, there will be no point to this exercise.
5. Lastly, it’s a creative, scribbling exercise. No need for neatness.

Just how you lift weights in a gym and buff that muscle up, the same theory applies in this scribbling exercise. If you do the scribbling exercise right, you will feel a strain in your arm. ‘Go to the gym’ on that strain; the more threshold you build up by tolerating more strain/pain, the longer you will be able to write by hand. I think even 5 minutes of this (at the most average speed) will show you instant results.

From my experience, I must tell you this : no matter how fast you are able to write, I learnt that while writing an examination paper (lengthy ones, written by hand), being able to write fast is useless if you don’t know your answers / haven’t studied well enough to write fast. :P It’s useless to be able to write fast if you’re spending all your time thinking instead of writing. :P
