"Zayn and Perrie are engaged, but any further detail regarding their relationship is private," a label rep tells PEOPLE.
Malik, 20, reportedly proposed to girlfriend Perrie Edwards last weekend, reports the U.K.'s Mirror.
Edwards, 20, sparked speculation of an engagement on Monday when she showed up on the London red carpet for the band's documentary One Direction: This is Us wearing a three-stone diamond ring on her left hand.
The tight couple later sat together inside the screening. They had previously been seen together at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles Aug. 11.
Edwards is a member of the British girl group, Little Mix, which formed in 2011 during the eighth season of the U.K.'s The X Factor and earned them comparisons to the Spice Girls.
